We promote faculty diversity in New York City independent schools.

Founded in 1994 as a nonprofit organization, Faculty Diversity Search (FDS) works to increase the diversity of teachers and administrators in the New York City independent schools. Each year, FDS works with 25 to 30 different NYC schools (see Member Schools) and places faculty in a variety of positions. We make nuanced matches between school culture, job availability and the talents and strengths of our candidates.

Since its inception, 491 faculty and administrators have found and accepted positions through the FDS program.

FDS recruits and selects an outstanding pool of candidates of color and other under-represented groups who demonstrate current excellence or future promise as independent school educators.  Openings are for teachers of all grades K-12, both entry-level and experienced, as well as for academic deans and division heads, technologists, librarians, learning specialists, counselors, admissions and development officers.

FDS is a program of The New York Interschool Association with generous support from The Altman Foundation and the FDS Member Schools
